Some thoughts before the PGA Championship

The final major of the year is upon us! The PGA Championship is always contested on fantastic venues all across the United States. What makes the PGA different from other major championships is that in addition to the world's best touring professionals, you will see 20 Club Professionals in the field as well, representing golf clubs from New York to California. These players earned their way into the field via their top-20 finish at the PGA Professional Championship a couple months ago. The full leaderboard can be seen here. Austin, Texas native and resident Omar Uresti, who returned to teach at Onion Creek Club after his playing career ended, won the PGA Professional Championship this year and will be teeing it up at Quail Hollow.

While you are watching the tournament, I recommend that you read about these club professionals and the clubs they represent. The PGA Championship is a great opportunity to remind us about all the work that our local teaching professionals put in on a regular basis for their members and clubs. The next time you are at a golf course or teaching facility, I recommend that you give a quick thank you to your local professional. They will appreciate to know that all the work they do helps to enhance someone's experience with the game of golf!

Enjoy the golf tournament and we will see you at The Golf School soon!
